I agree with Psusennes I but none the less, it is possible to get the job. Even then, if you don't get a job as an Egyptologist, you could always get a business degree and start a commercial Egyptological/Archaeological services unit. But then again you'd need Zahi Hawass's permission to excavate anything like the rest of them. Well there's always a career as an Historian. _________________ Once upon a midnight dreary....

I suppose you could be an Egyptologist in the Sudan if Mr H banned you fron Egypt.
Does anyone knowe of physical evidence of Egyptians outside Egypt other than the Sudan? The Egyptians had problems with the Libyans - I wonder why they never built any forts to try to control them? |

Where exactly is Sudan, is it near Nubia? During the Late Period (Between the New Kingdom and the Graeco-Roman period) Egypt was ruled by Nubians at one stage. Take for example Pharaoh Piankhy whose capital was in Napata, Nubia. Piankhy was the Pharaoh who defeated the Libyan prince Tefnakht. So I guess if you could prove that Dr. Hawass didn't have control of Egyptian sites in Nubia then yes, you could do it there. If the Nubian government would let you excavate. _________________ Once upon a midnight dreary....

well, what you call Nubia is actually part of southern Egypt and northern Sudan. There isn't a Nubian Government at the moment...About those sites that are located in the northern Sudan, I think there is an agreement with SCA, but I'm not sure. I may ask...
There are ancient Egyptian sites near Lybia, and I know there are some even in Eritrea and Ethiopia, Sinai is still Egyptian.... |
