| Might I ask how we're supposed to change this if you just leave the site? That's not going to fix anything. |

DM put it best when she described it as the holiday lull. If you are indeed out of here, then I wish you the best of luck in your life, Psusennes I. It's been an experience, I must say. ...To which I must ask myself if you will ever read this at all or not. I suppose it doesn't matter... Just take my intentions to heart or piss off or something.
Regards,

Sorry.
I'm not really sure what we're supposed to do.
That was very mean of me. Of course I don't really have the courage never to return! I just wanted to shock people into realising that we seem to be sliding down a slippery slope - and no intelligent people will bother to join this forum unless they see it as useful.
What can we do? _________________

Well, this may seem a simple and short-term solution, but for now we could just start new posts with knowledgeable topics and just ignore the users who aren't posting important information. That's probably what we're doing already though. I'm sorry, I just don't know what else we can do, for the time being. |

...We should throw a party!! Sorry, that was for my enjoyment more than anything; but seriously, I feel that there is not much we can do. People come and go as they please, and stay as they please, and we cannot change that fact. In time, new people will come; some dolts and some intellects... and some in between (I like that group the most - they're fun).
Just keep in mind that the holiday season is still in the air. Winding down as it may, there will not be as much activity in the time being. Do you remember how things really picked up as the school season neared an end and into the summer? Students have school and some of those students have lives. Others have work, which means they, in a majority of cases, have no life, so the adults here should be appreciated for not only having the desire to learn and discuss what is ancient Egypt, but to delve a portion of their time toward that passion.
And no Psus, I don't think that was mean of you at all. Your frustration of the lack of substance in the boards as of late is very understandable; I feel you were just "typing" aloud.
As per your suggestion of only discussing the knowledgeable topics and ignoring the users that don't post important information, Ankh_1, I feel that is a little brash. That is unless you are meaning to ignore the users who merely spam, which I can see as ...well, I don't want to say understandable, but I do start to lean in favor of your thought when I look at both sides. The biggest problem is that there just haven't been any good, thought provoking topics lately. It isn't necesarily anyone''s fault, but perhaps (not to sound redundant) a lull. It could be the season, it could be personal order good or bad. It will pass, and I know things will resume as normal. _________________ "Does anyone ever truly think 'outside' of the box, or are they merely expanding the possibilities of what that box can hold to suit their own agenda?"

I mean the users like Coolgirl, and the ones like Psusennes I said, like: "OMG WOAH I HEART EGYPT LIKE AWSUM!" Not ones that don't know much about egypt but are trying to learn--we should respect them. Just not the spammers or the "OMG LIKE COOL EGYPT WOWW!" ones. |

Hmm... well, I'm sorry you took offense to what I had to say, I did not mean to attack you, nor did I have the intent of blowing sunshine up your ass. I just a mix of fact and conjecture and posted. Forgive me the inconsistancies of my story. _________________ "Does anyone ever truly think 'outside' of the box, or are they merely expanding the possibilities of what that box can hold to suit their own agenda?"

Please think before acting. It is only fun when the only consequences are physical damage, if that. Not when things like honor and integrety are at steak.. er, stake. _________________ "Does anyone ever truly think 'outside' of the box, or are they merely expanding the possibilities of what that box can hold to suit their own agenda?"

What are you talking about? I really don't know what you're trying to say , is there something going on here that I didn't know about? |

Well, all I can say is that things will pick up in the spring. It's how it's been and will be. Trust me a little, guys, I've modded this place for 3 years now! _________________

Sorry, Ankh_1 - I suppose I just saw something that wasn't there. That's the biggest problem with forums, you can't see the person's mood in full when reading!
And no DM, I don't think we should believe you. Things are dead, and always will be! I'm going to lie down and die now, thank you very much! _________________ "Does anyone ever truly think 'outside' of the box, or are they merely expanding the possibilities of what that box can hold to suit their own agenda?"

If the Tutness may comment on this--hey, it's only been 6 days, people, this topic isn't really old...yet...
This goes back to my wonderful discussion on n00bs and newbies. You've probably heard me use those terms before, and you've probably heard me ranting about the differences between them. It's true!!
If anyone needs an actual contrast, here's my definition of both:
n00bs(noobs): Spammers, coolgirl, one-liners, those who start S**t, those with little brain matter in them, those who have no life, and are probably still living with thier mothers in the basement at the age of 45. One to indeed frown upon, they have no interest in the topic, or even staying on said topic. Again, a coolgirl.
Newbies(noo-bees): One who is new to the forum, and who actually takes the time to introduce themselves, and discuss thier thoeries of Ancient Egypt, in this case. They are the ones who are able to make new friends on here, and they try thier best to give as logical an explanation as possible. Us veterens and mods must guide them, and help them with any information they seek, or to correct them on wrong references or said information. They are the ones that deserve some respect, and the ones who do give a s**t about the topic, and try to stay on them as much as possible.
Embrace the newbie, shun the n00b. Well wait....is "shun" too harsh of a word to use here? o_o; _________________

Well, to start off, we need newbies to retort and n00bies to tell to go the hell away. And yes, it was very rude of you to suggest such a word, shun... I feel bad even thinking it! Geeze... _________________ "Does anyone ever truly think 'outside' of the box, or are they merely expanding the possibilities of what that box can hold to suit their own agenda?"
