I was interested in Egypt 'til I was a boy.... I found that Egyptian society has always been more interesting than the others...

The interest has always been with me, just a few days ago I had a nice moment when I found my first baby book on Egypt that I used to read. It must have been one of my first encounters with the culture! It was such a good book, with cut-out gods, a get-to-the-afterlife boardgame, and a battle of Kadesh duel game.
It was my sudden consumption by the hieroglyphic language that really pulled me back into my obsession with Egypt. It seems that that's the way things are with me. Sometimes I become completely and utterly obsessed with something, almost overnight. It's sort of as though I didn't choose to be interested in Egypt- 'it chose me'. lol _________________

I'm interested in the ancient Egyptian culture since the summer of 2004 when I went down the Nile in a big boat with my family - it was so interesting. And I'm going to Egypt this year July, too! But I found a drawing by me about Nefertiti from the 5th grade (I was only 11 then - I'm 15 now). So it's never too early. _________________ http://belldandy.freeblog.hu --> my blog site |

Back in the days of my sixth grade romping, I learned about King Tut in my Geography class, as well as the Osiris legend and heiroglyphs. After that, I fell in love with ancient Egypt, and have been studying it--mostly the New Kingdom--since I was 12. Now I'm 18, and I'm still learning new things. I just learned about Akhenaten last year, on the Travel Channel, no less! ^_^ It talked about Tell El Amarna, and about Akhenaten's religious revolution, and I got right into studying about him. Though, even today, I'm still looking on sites and reading books on him, yet there is only so much information that I can gather, and it isn't enough, sadly. There are only few sites on Akhenaten, and even fewer sites on Tut. But that's what got me into Egyptology! ^_^ _________________

Si-Amun... you have/had an awesome grandmother!
I think I became interested in Egypt via the Horrible Histories books... has anyone read them? I really liked them, and read them obsessively.
As it turns out I'm more of a linguist than, say, an art historian. That's where my interest specializes. |

I read a Royal Diaries book about Egypt in 5th or 6th grade and thats what got me into Egypt. Plus, recently we've been learning about Egypt in our culture-history class and it made me want to learn even more. It's fascinating!!! |

If I might take the liberty to translate this text...
Hey Goddess my KTO BFF haha:D It's so cute that we have the same icon!!!
KTO BFF can be loosely translated as "king tut one best friend forever". Other forms of this phrase have been known to have been used, but I believe my translation fits best into this context.
I hope this aids in your plight, Ramsekh! _________________ "Does anyone ever truly think 'outside' of the box, or are they merely expanding the possibilities of what that box can hold to suit their own agenda?"

Oh, this is very cute! ^^ I mean, best friends forever!!! From your posts, I think you two are very similar, always happy and creative people! I think I have a good relationship with everyone here in KTO ^^ or not ( ). Now I haven't spoken to my real 'BFF' since the middle of November, because we had a really ugly arguement... So, I'm happy that I have some friends on the Internet, thanks to KTO! *applause*
Sorry, it was very off-topic. Now I should go back to the topic... I just found my diary that I wrote in 2004, when I was in Egypt for the first time. It's very good to remember how good it was when I was on a boat which was sailing down the Nile. Only a gentle wind was blowing, and it was quite hot... Some palm trees grew in the side of the river, and behind them, I could a lot of sand: the beginning of the desert. Far away, some farms appeared, too, with hard-working employees, with cute donkeys^^, and, and... oh, well, I'm somewhere else again. Someone should bring me to Egypt until Christmas... ^^ out of school and horrible Physics lessons *sigh* ~_~ _________________ http://belldandy.freeblog.hu --> my blog site |
