Does anyone know what kind of currency the ancient egyptians used around 3000B.C. ? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I believe they used grain and other kinds of harvested goods.

In the tomb of Rekhmire (ca 3500 BC) there's a scene of the inspection of the taxes.

Different places had to pay tax and the payments include gold, silver, hides, oxen, bows, wood, linen, etc.

To give an example, the taxes payed by "the scribe of the Islands which are in the south" includes 2 deben of gold (roughly a 1/2 lb of gold), 30 pigeons (Very Happy ), 2 oxen, 5 yearlings and 1 chest of linen.

Actually I learn about Ancient Egypt in my history subject. And I remembered that we did not discuss the currency they are using on that time. But I read on one book about Ancient Egypt is that they are using grain or jewelry as money, trading and selling for other goods or items.

They used barter but given weights of metal were used almost like modern coins e.g. a deben of copper
