First off, forgive me if this sounds totally off base... but I couldn't help but think about it. Eric nad I were watching a show about the Etruscans (sp) and we started thinking... I was thinking that perhaps they were the Sea People in AE times... Eric thought it was a possibility but believes that Atlantis is real and that they were the sa people. I am curious to see what others think.

I would need quite a bit to convince me that the Etruscans were the Sea Peoples t be honest but one thing has just come into my mind. Could the early Phonecians perhaps have been that infamously unknown race?

The identification of the Sea People as one race, warring with Egypt, is visually incorrect. On the walls at Karnak, the carvings of the Sea Peole shows two distinctly different peoples. Thought today centers more on the belief it was a loosly held coallition of two bodies of peoples, the Philistines and a group of Mediterranean warriors, identified through their dress and style of weapon. The headress of one group is a feathered crown, used by the Philistines. The other group wears a horned helmut-type of headress, used by the Enkomi, a central Mediterranean people.
Belief in Atlanis is wide-spread, but at the present time there is no positive proof that it existed, contrary to "finds" that place it off the coast of Spain. There was, more than likely, an island that sank beneath the sea. But populated by an advanced race, that understood and used all the things that have be attributed to them? Hardly likely.

I find the Atlantis Myth very hard to believe, especially as late as a dating to the Sea Peoples. If there was a place called Atlantis that was submerged that late I think we would have a little more evidence for it than the ramblings of a Greek writer who isn't reknowned for his accuracy. I am a firm believer that it was a myth concocted by one civilisation or another and merely copied down (and probably embellished) by a Greek. Such an exodus or blending of cultures would surely be noted in cultural, architectural or religous history.

this article is interesting ...
but still does not attest to WHERE they
CAME from; but from
from where they first appeared to originate.

Why is it such a hard concept to believe that we orginated from the heaven's? Or what does "Alien" exactly mean to you (from a different planet)?
We are a grain of sand in the milky way of the universe and we know our creator as being one and the same for all time and all thing's.
The fact that Atlantis existed; than it truth's must be considered. Maybe then we would be better at mindexpanding awareness.

I really enjoy this site because of the journey's it take's me on. Thank's for opening up the subject and for heaven's sake, why would there be a need to apologize for poising such a question?

bel~ Thanks for that link. According to it, I may not be totally off in thinking what I do:

Quote from Tour Egypt:
Various scholars have tried to place these people with recognizable regions. We are told by ancient text that they came from Ahhiyawa. However, we are told that the Sea People included:

The Peleset, who were non other than the Philistines that gave their name to Palestine.
The Lukka who may have come from the Lycian region of Anatolia.
The Ekwesh and Denen who seem to be identified with the Homeric Achaean and Danaean Greeks
The Sherden who may be associated with Sardinia.
The Teresh (Tursha or Tyrshenoi - possibly the Tyrrhenians), the Greek name for the Etruscans; or from the western Anatolian Taruisa
Shekelesh (Shekresh, Sikeloi - Sicilians?)

I am now really interested in learning more and plan to check out some of the references they have listed.
Thought I would share.. found another decent article on the Sea People

A little bit of Greek Diversion here.... the plato traslation is certainly not clear. The 9000 years could be a number of things from the Egyptian Gods placed higher on the columns... or from the Zoroastrian belief.

There is also a break in the story, where they review the sacred letters.

In Greek mythology you have a number of Greek flood stories appearing around the flood of Laomedon... concerning Chryse, Samothrace, and Lemnos. These are all around the coast of Troy/turkey.

You can reconcile all the other stuff if the legend to get to this region, if you wanted to... although you can make a good argument for anything.

I have the Atlantis War around the time of "7 against thebes" and "Epigoni". With the flood being the flood of Laomedon(1280BC).

If there was a confusion between 100s and 100s both the size & date of Atlantis ties in roghly with Minoan Crete & the devastation from the Thera erruption.
The devastation could have stopped minoan ships sailing for Egypt & make the Egyptians think Crete had sunk.
