Well, I think he is a great writer but he didn't do a too big search before writing his ancient Egyptian books. His first book in this theme was the 'River God'. Here's the summary:

Taita (not ancient Egyptian name!) was a quite educated and good-looking slave of Lord Intef. Taita fell in love with Intef's daughter, Lostris (me!!! Embarassed

In his second book, 'The Seventh Scroll' Royan and Nicholas (two egypologists, I think) are looking for Mamose's tomb and mummy.
And in the third, we can see what will happen with Lostris' granson, Nefer and his beautiful Hyksos love, Mintaka.

My personal favourite is the River God, but as I said, it has not too much connection with the Hyksos times.
