A statue of Neferhotep I has been found by a Franco-egyptian equipe on june 5th. Unfortunatly I didn't find any picture of it, but this

which article is italian. It seems that this statue is located under or near the basement of the Hatshepsut's obelisk, inside the temple of Karnak, and so the SCA decide to wait for more infos about the area before proceeding with excavation, because there is a high risk for the obelisk to become unstable.... |

Awesome, Maatkara! It seems that the first few paragraphs spend half their space giving everyone their credit, what organization they belong to, and the acronyms that accompany them.
The picture, looking straight up the statue is awesome; almost awe inspiring! This is just overall, a nice thing. _________________ "Does anyone ever truly think 'outside' of the box, or are they merely expanding the possibilities of what that box can hold to suit their own agenda?"

Can you translate Maatkare? I would use Google, but it makes about as much sense as. . . . a sugar umbrella? A chocolate fireguard? _________________

A very interesting article! The statue is really grand--but it brings up a couple of questions. The article states that "the statue is wearing a Nemes head dress, and a mask". I looked very closely at the photo, and can see no evidence of a mask! I was also wondering about the double of the dyad. Is it his ka that he is shown holding hands with, or perhaps his ba?
As I've said, though, it is a great find. Just imagine how much is still uncovered in the most unlikely places! |

Osiris II,
I had the same doubt about the mask!...I could npt see anything that reminds me of a funerary mask...perhaps it is not easy to be seen through the pics, I don't know..
About the double statue, we know nothing! It is not possible to see if it is his Ka....
I hope they will take care of the Obelisk and won't make anythink to risk its stability....it's really huge! and heavy...and the statue seems to be too near its foundations...
there is one thing that is not clear at all that is the date on which the statue has been first uncovered....by the guardian site it seems to be at the beginning of may, but every agency is noticing it by june 5th... |
