Hatshepsut was not cruel and there is no proof that she was. Now there is proof that Thutmose III was cruel. I don't understand why people come to that conclusion. Hatshepsut wanted peace not war. I am sure that Thutmose III aligned himself within the priest's of the day and it was not hard for them to sabatoge Hatshepsut as co-regent; which is not disputed.
After all we are talking about being born from the God's and their likeness here and the correct procedure to the annointment of pharoah. It is clearly displayed on the temple of Deir El Bahari. Hatshepsut took on the masculine stance to appease her people; not herself. |

I think the title would be non gender-specific. I suppose if you were a particular crony of his/hers, you could just use "Ethel" or "Bob" in greeting ...respectfully of course...for example, "Well, if it isn't Ethel (thou of the Sedge and Bee, etc. etc.)..."

She took the title of 'Nsw-t', king with the feminine ending, thus Queen. _________________

uhm....I don't really think so...the title of Queen does not exit...we'd better say "woman Pharaoh"....(it's that grecian word "pharaoh" that hurts me so much!!!)...She's been representing herself as a male few times and her titles as regnant, too. But then, again as "nsw-t"....
I wish to add one more thing to Claude...
There is no "Lex Salica" in Ancient Egypt, so the title of King was not "passed" from father to son....and Hatshepsut was grown by her father to be the Regent...Tothmes I had clear ideas about her daughter!... |
