This was all interesting stuff. The hour-long documentary covered the destruction of the mummies facial features by tomb robbers, or perhaps another motive that someone did not want her to reach the after life?
I'm curious as to what others on the board think; do you reckon this is th real Nefertiti or is this perhaps another relative? Or maybe a completely mistaken identity. The facial reconstruction made from a team who were working completely blind as to who she might have been came up with a 3D face that looked strikingly similar to the surviving "bust"?! that shows what she looked like.
So, does anyone think it really is her or not? |

I remember that from last year. I don't remember what I thought about it. I wasn't very impressed with it. _________________

is this what you are talking about?
Nefertiti
If so, I saw it and thought that it might be her, but that there was not enough info to totally convince me. _________________ ~Mary

Yes, that is the one.
It was interesting too, because the very program that was shown before that was about the Hittites and their reign.
I'm not that well versed in ancient times, but I never heard of them before. I was figuring at first "where these the sea people which caused so many problems to Egypt?"
Obviously not....... |

| The debate about the mummy known as the "Younger Lady" and referred to as Nefertiti has hit a major snag. DNA tests on the mummy show it to be a man. |

I'd certainly call that a major snag.
I guess the race is on now to try and find out who he really was... |

THat's pretty weird since I seem to see Nefertiti's face when I look at the mummy. Looks just like the bust. _________________

Hrmmmm the scientist on the BBC series also commented about that. Facial similarities, maybe a male family member; brother; cousin etc? |

Lets face it, if the mummy looked masculine then it is hardly likely yo be Akhenaten! Have you seen his sculptures or reliefs? lol _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

| yes, ive seen him! i meant to say that the mummy looked too masculine to be a woman.. compare the "computer-made-face" with some akhenaten pics and youll see a resemblence. |

But I thought Akhenaten didn't even look like that? I mean, the art and sculptures from the Amarna period are completely different from any other period. _________________

Several sources do point that at least some of the birth defects portrayed in Amarna art were actually real, especially the elongated heads. Scull analysis on people such as Tutankhamun has shown that they were of abnormal length. Why would Akhenatem lie about his disability and proceed to show his family as deformed as well? If they were deformed isn't it more than likely that he was as well? _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |
